A Super Quick Update on the NEW Store

Happy Saturday evening, folks.

A couple of weeks ago, we released the news about our NEW, second store location in West Broad Village in Short Pump (west of Richmond). We've been overwhelmed by the support, press, tweets, posts, and appreciation we've received from all of YOU.

We've also had a few questions, heard a few misunderstandings, and have made a few changes to our timeline, so we thought an update was appropriate.

1. We are NOT moving. We are opening a SECOND location. We are keeping our downtown location. How could we not? It's 50,000 square feet of renovated gorgeous-ness in Richmond's fabulous river district. We love it!

2. The new store will be SMALLER than the downtown store. It's 7,000 feet vs. (as previously stated) about 50,000 feet. As our press buddy Jeff Kelly determined, it's about the size of two tennis courts. If you know our downtown store, it's about the size of our dining section on the second floor.

3. This means that EVERYTHING that is downtown won't be in the west end. We think you'll love what you see, and, naturally, we hope it will tempt you to drive east to visit us downtown.

4. Our new store is only 14 miles (about a 20 minute drive) from our new store. Wow... that means that DOWNTOWN RICHMOND is really really really CLOSE to Short Pump! Don't believe us? ... click here.

5. Sometimes the best laid plans go awry. Waiting for permits, building walls, painting, moving & building furniture, etc. can take longer than one expects. We signed the lease 6 weeks ago with the hope to "soft" open by Feb 2nd. We missed that date... and shot for the 9th. We won't make that one either... but we hope to have the doors open the weekend after.

6. We will have some systematic kinks to work out the first week. Just like a new restaurant, our staff will be adjusting to being in a 'new' location. We hope you'll be patient as they adjust. They want to make you happy, and they'll be doing it with 'new tools'. (That's why they call it a 'soft' opening).

7. If you look in the windows now and think it looks sparse (according to one email received today), we can only say... uh, yeah, we know, but we don't want to unwrap and build furniture you might want to buy while we're still SANDING and PAINTING. Don't worry... more is coming. One thing we're good at is filling up a showroom with inventory.

8. We're in a XXX mood: exhausted, excited, and expecting good things!

Check out a few of our progress pictures here to see how we're doing - and keep those positive thoughts coming. We LOVE 'em!
